JOB SUMMARY
College Connections Hawaii (CCH) is a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the educational opportunity for all people in Hawaii. CCH is seeking Professional Tutors to work with students of all ages at schools and community-based sites statewide. Tutors will implement the strategic tutoring method, focusing on students gaining strategies in order to successfully manage future work without a tutor. Once hired and trained in strategic tutoring, CCH Professional Tutors will be assigned students as they request tutoring from CCH.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Promote the CCH mission, philosophy and values in all interactions with students, parents, school staff and others.

Inspire, motivate, and encourage all students.

Arrive at every session early and create a productive tutoring atmosphere.

Learn and follow the strategic tutoring method to achieve the goals in each student's tutoring session.

Address students' immediate educational concerns at each session, while adhering to the strategic tutoring method.

Use Daily Language or Daily Math mini-activities at the beginning of every session.

Deliberately teach State benchmarks through homework assignments and the use of CCH Instructional Strategies Kits and provide students with immediate feedback.

Review what was taught and track benchmarks using the tracking sheet at each session.

Maintain a record of student progress, feedback and school performance.

Communicate with parents and teachers via email/phone/mail on a daily basis.

Communicate with and respond to requests from CCH via email/phone/mail.

Complete online timesheet in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Immediately inform CCH of any concerns with tutoring sessions or discrepancies in time worked.

Maintain absolute confidentiality of all students' academic and personal information.

Attend all required training and meetings.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

HS diploma or equivalent for some levels, Bachelor's degree or equivalent for all others

One year of relevant teaching or tutoring experience
